Longfellow Elementary opened in 1890 as one of Riverside's first schools.
The school is named after Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, one of the world's most renowned poets. His most notable work being "Paul Revere's Ride." Many historians have recorded that Longfellow was THE most popular poet of his day. There are even recordings of his 70th birthday being celebrated with parades, speeches, and readings of his poetry.
